Benjamin Douglas Homan

Farmington – Benjamin Douglas Homan, 30, of Farmington, passed away at 10:30 Pm on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at his residence. He was born on November 29, 1988 in Peoria to Dennis Homan and Vicky (Bush) Potter.

Surviving are his parents, Dennis Homan and Vicky (Charles) Potter; four sisters, Jessica (James Dearing) Homan and Amanda, Chelsea, and Brittany Potter; one brother, Charlie Potter; paternal grandma, Vernece Homan; one niece, Addilynn Kay Dearing, and several cousins.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his paternal grandpa, Lyle Homan.

Benjamin served his apprenticeship and later worked as a journeyman for Sheet Metal Worker Local 1. He was a member of Northwoods Community Church, loved wrestling and graduated from Illini Bluffs High School in 2007, and was a volunteer for Tivoli Fire & Rescue. Benjamin enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and billiards. He was a member of CIPL and APA Billiards Leagues. Most of all he loved his family and his beloved dog and best friend, Layla.

A celebration of life will be held from 12-5 PM on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the Farmington Sportsman Club. Cremation rites will be accorded with Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL. Memorials can be made to the Diabetes Association. To make online condolences you may go to

    I had Ben as an apprentice student for 4 years. He was there type of worker I would have enjoyed working with. He was always friendly and respectful and just a joy to be around. Never a dull moment with Ben! Prayers go out to his family! He will be missed!
