Gerald “Garold” M. Doubet

Trivoli – Gerald “Garold” M. Doubet, 83, of Trivoli, passed away at 4:45 PM on Thursday, September 13, 2018 surrounded by family at his home following his battle with cancer. He was born on December 1, 1934 in Smithville, IL to Harris and Ruth (Gerdes) Doubet. He married Dorothy Ann Kitlan on September 30, 1961 in Peoria, IL, she preceded him in death on June 23, 2013.

Garold was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Myrtle Bunner and Wilma “Willie” Schwindenhammer.

Surviving are five children, Cynthia (Terry “JR”) Lucas of Trivoli, Garold “Beau” Doubet of London Mills, Valerie Doubet of Norwood, Amy (Joe) Ciota of Trivoli, and Scott (Meghan) Doubet of Maquon; eight grandchildren, Alisha, Jeremy (Leslie), Shayna (Josh), Kevin, Jacob, Corey, Mallorey, and Dakota; three great-grandchildren, Breanna, Ethan, and Dylan; one brother, Larry “Spike” (Ruth Ann) Doubet of Ellisville; and five sisters, Audrey Wright of Farmington, Ruthie (Tom) Wallenfang of Hanna City, Janet (Zane) Lucas of Sun City Center, FL, Marilyn Falls of Hanna City, and Lavonne “Babe” (Jim) Cook of Hanna City.

After serving in the United States Army, Garold worked as a mechanic and farmer. He co-owned and operated Doubet & Sons Texaco before working and retiring from Peoria Disposal Company. He was a Farm Bureau member and Teamsters Local Union 627 retiree.

He will be remembered as a hard-working man who was well respected by those who knew him.

A visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL, where Military Honors will take place at 5 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Hanna City United Methodist Church. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
