James C. Bridges

Bartonville – James C. Bridges, 94, of Bartonville, passed away at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at his residence. He was born on May 11, 1926 in Litchfield, IL to Orville and Margaret (Voyles) Bridges. He married Beverly McIntire on April 16, 1948. She was the love of his life and they were married for 72 years.

Surviving is his wife, Beverly; two sons, Tom (Jane) Bridges of Mapleton and Steve (Sue) Bridges of Mapleton; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Melody Bridges of Mapleton.

James was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jim Bridges, and one brother, Robert Bridges.

James was in the Television Business in Peoria for 40 years. He loved his family so much.

James was a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division in the United States Army during World War II. He was also a Platoon Sergeant and he served in the Philippines and Japan.

Per James’s wishes there will be no services. Cremation rites will be accorded with Endsley-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Bartonville, IL. In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America. To make online condolences you may go to

    Sorry for loss Steve and Tom. Years back I had the pleasure to meet your dad. I looked forward going out to breakfast ever Saturday with him. I am grateful the lord made it possible that I was able to meet him and his family. I miss those days. He is now resting in piece. May the lord be with you durning these hard times. Also I always remember when he got the yellow jacket. I never saw him with out it. I remember working with him on the Cadillac with real gold emblems. May God be with you
