Noble Lee “Ron” Starnes was called home on November 28th, 2019 at 2:12 pm. Ron was born on April 25th in West Frankfort, Illinois to the late Lowell Vernon Starnes and Mary Ruth Hill, Starnes, Bangs. Ron married the love of his life, Geneva McNeal, and began their journey in Zeigler, IL. They later moved to Christopher, IL then to Weatherford, Texas before settling in Fiatt, IL.
Ron was a hard-working man, but most importantly he was a loving Husband, Daddy, Pa, Brother and Friend. His career started when he became an Illinois State Trooper where he was able to help his local community and make a lasting impact on many lives. The first business that Ron established was located in Zeigler and called “Starnes Garage, Taxi and Wrecker Service” where he owned two wreckers named “Big Gen” and “Little Gen” named after his late wife, Geneva Starnes. Ron also prided himself in being politically active in Southern, IL.
Ron owned many other companies throughout his life, but his true passion was the coal industry. Ron graduated from the American Christian College and Seminary, where he received his Doctor of Humanities Degree.
Ron was preceded in death by one brother Lowell Starnes Jr., his wife, Geneva McNeal Starnes, and his son, Jon “Jay” David Starnes. Those Ron left behind are his daughter, Sherri (Randy) Starnes Delost, his grandchildren, David Delost, Darron Delost, Danel Delost, Chelsie Starnes, Jonathan Starnes, and Brandee Starnes. His sister, Opal Wood and nieces, Christie Pendergrass and Caitlin Forbes along with his good friends – The Novoa and Moschino Families.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at the American Legion Hall in Canton, Illinois from 4:00-8:00 PM.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Coello Community Building in Coello, Illinois from 4:00-8:00 PM. Burial of ashes will be held December 29, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Zeigler Cemetery in Zeigler, Illinois.
