Shelby G. Grubb


Hanna City – Shelby G. Grubb, 73, of Hanna City, passed away at 9:21 AM on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at UnityPoint Health Proctor. He was born on September 20, 1947 in Williamsfield, IL to Raymond and Nellie (Phelps) Grubb. He married Brenda Stone on April 29, 1966 in Farmington, IL. She survives.

Also surviving is one daughter, Nicki (Todd Abraham) Grubb of Farmington; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter (Virginia) Grubb of Ellisville; and one sister, Betsy (Rich) Meyers of Farmington.

Shelby was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Brian K. Grubb, and two sisters, Patsy Lewis and Doria Malmgren.

Shelby worked as a machine operator. He loved playing cards, especially poker, bowling, going out to eat, holidays, and life itself. Most importantly, Shelby loved his family.

Shelby served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Cottonwood Cemetery in rural Hanna City, IL. Rev. Kevin Van Tine will officiate. Memorials can be made to The Family.
